Located halfway between Chicago and St. Louis, this Local is slowly pulling out of a long economic downturn.

Peoria’s 225 ironworkers and their employers are involved in a variety of structural, reinforcing, fencing, guardrail, engineered metal building and infrastructure projects.

The jurisdiction is home to 4 coal-fired powerhouses (one of which is currently undergoing an expansion), heavy equipment manufacturers, a steel foundry and many large colleges and universities including the Illinois State University.

We’re hopeful that the Asian economy picks up enough that Caterpillar proceeds with its long-planned new, $1 billion global headquarters in downtown Peoria.

Until the economy in our jurisdiction (and in Asia) picks up, we don’t anticipate bringing in any new members, but please apply anyway so we know your skills and how to contact you when our employers once again become busy and our current membership can’t meet our employers’ needs.

Our members are well paid, and we are protected by employer-paid health & welfare and defined benefit pension plans. We always work safe!

Applications are welcome from non-union men and women ironworkers and apprentices.

Work with the best!
