Virtually every member of the Rock Island ironworkers union who wants to work, is working these days…there’s plenty of action both now and in coming years.

A good portion of our work is reinforcing ironwork. Our employers are also busy with structural projects and several of them are deeply involved in pre-engineered metal buildings. In our northern region, there’s a new bridge coming that will take 3 years to complete. Also on the books, but not yet tendered, is a $1.4 Billion bridge over the Mississippi that will be a 5-year project.

Our area also sees lots of school, college and hospital construction and expansion projects. In Moline IL, we’re getting ready for Amtrak service from Chicago with a station upgrade and a new 7-storey hotel.

Our members are well paid, and we’re protected by strong, employer-paid health and welfare and defined benefit pension plans. We always work safe!

Applications are welcome from non-union men and women ironworkers and apprentices.

PLEASE NOTE: We begin our new member intake process with applications in January, an aptitude test in February and an interview in March, after which we make our selection. If you apply through this website, we’ll call you before the January application process.

Come work with the best!
